Latest company case about Moisture content of corrugated boxes

Moisture content of corrugated boxes

When corrugated cardboard is used to produce boxes, the moisture content of the box is a keyquality control indicator. Generally speaking, the moisture content of the box will directly affectits strength, stability and service life. Regarding the moisture content of corrugated cardboardboxes, there are several points to note:

Standard range

According to national standards and relevant industry specifications, the moisture content ofcorrugated boxes usually has a control range. For example, some information indicates that themoisture content standard of corrugated boxes is (12±4)%, which means that the moisture contentcan fluctuate between 8% and 16%. However, other information also mentions that the nationalstandard for corrugated boxes "GB/T 6543-2008" stipulates different levels of moisture contentstandards, among which the moisture content of corrugated cardboard should not be less than 9%and not more than 12%, and the moisture content of corrugated core paper and face paper incorrugated boxes should be between 8% and 12%.

Influencing factors

The moisture content of the carton is affected by many factors, including the moisture content ofthe base paper, the humidity and temperature of the production environment, and the moisturecontrol during the production process. Therefore, these factors need to be strictly controlled duringthe production process to ensure that the moisture content of the carton remains within areasonable range.

Importance

The moisture content has a great influence on the strength of the carton body. If the moisturecontent is too high, the carton will easily become soft, the strength will be reduced, and it will beeasy to deform and break during transportation and storage; at the same time, the high moisturecontent will also provide conditions for the growth of microorganisms such as mold, acceleratingthe damage of the carton. On the contrary, if the moisture content is too low, the carton willbecome brittle, which will also affect its performance. Therefore, it is crucial to accurately detectand control the moisture content of the corrugated carton.

Detection method

In order to accurately detect the moisture content of the corrugated carton, methods such as ovendrying method or rapid moisture meter method can be used. The oven drying method is to placethe sample in an oven and dry it to constant weight, and then calculate the weight differencebefore and after drying to determine the moisture content; while the rapid moisture meter methoduses the instrument to automatically display the moisture content, which is simple and quick tooperate.

In summary, when corrugated cardboard is used to produce cartons, the moisture content of thecartons should generally be controlled between 8% and 12% (may vary according to differentstandards), and the specific value needs to be determined according to national standards, industryspecifications and actual production conditions. At the same time, various factors that affect themoisture content should be strictly controlled during the production process, and effectivedetection methods should be adopted to ensure that the moisture content meets the requirements
